Federal Way Community Center to host first-ever Federal Way Strong 5K

Participants can run or walk their favorite 5K route between Dec. 31 and Jan. 3, 2021.

Lace up your running shoes and ring in the new year with the upcoming Federal Way Strong 5K virtual race.

Presented by the Federal Way Community Center for the first time, this race allows participants to run or walk their favorite 5K route in Federal Way. Then, track your time, upload it to the race website and bask in your sense of accomplishment.

The Federal Way Strong 5K must be completed between Thursday, Dec. 31 and Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021. The entry price is $20, and each participant receives a certificate and a beanie hat, which can be picked up at the Federal Way Community Center during the second week of January.

While the Federal Way Community Center remains closed, the staff wanted to keep the community moving, said Hannah Thayer, race director and the fitness & athletics coordinator of FWCC.

The FWCC is offering virtual memberships for classes, which includes leasing out equipment, but wanted to go the extra step in creating a safe event for anyone to join.
