White nationalism on the rise

We also know this current president is complicit with his rhetoric.

When teaching U.S. history, I used to say “Man meeting moment” (should change that to person). Washington, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt were all individuals who were able to step up at just the right time for this nation.

Today we are, in my opinion, at that crossroads again. We cannot deny white nationalism is on the rise in this country and throughout Europe. We also know this current president is complicit with his rhetoric and for the first time in this country’s history a TV news network has also stoked the flames of white nationalism.

So who will be that person that will step up and lead us out of this nightmare? In my opinion we all need to be that person. We need to meet that moment. We need to lead by rallying against this hate. Get to know all your neighbors. Vote hate out in the ballot box. Any party that stands quietly by needs to be voted out. This is a moral issue not political, economic issue or gun issue. This is for the soul of our country.

We as whites need to recognize that our race has practiced this form of hate since we have landed on this continent. Not most of us by any means, but we need to acknowledge this fact so that we can stop this white nationalism once and for all.

If we don’t, I fear this country is heading for some very dark days.

Why not start with addressing the truth that homelessness is not a housing shortage or a mental health issue alone — it is a drug problem.

A big thank you to the new owners of Grocery Outlet in Federal Way.

Inspirational MLK program in Federal Way

I am hopeful that the young generation will understand and work towards regeneration.

National: Three years ago, voters in this country elected a president. People have been fighting it ever since.

You may disagree with that statement but that disagreement of yours comes from the fact that you are actually bisexual.

Thank you, Rev. Hosler

It’s bad enough that ignorant people post bigoted homophobic lies on the internet.

Kind teachers, flags make all the difference

I spent 11 years in the Federal Way Public Schools before the days when pride flags and safe stickers could be found in classrooms, but I still turned out gay.

I most certainly would not allow it in my church.

The facts always matter

It’s also disappointing that Mr. Roegner continually uses this as a mark against the city.

Campaign finance reform needed, and no more gerrymandering

Many of us have cheated on our taxes, left work a little early, justified taking something at work.

Pride signals unconditional acceptance of everyone

Recognize that humans come in a variety of shapes and forms, rather than some cookie-cutter ideal set forth 2,000 years ago by white male patriarchs.
