Warren’s veterans’ services proposal something I can support

It is the most comprehensive plan for supporting veterans and military families that I have heard in a very long time.

I served as a nurse in the Army during the Vietnam era. My deceased husband — William J. Wood — was a Vietnam Veteran and the namesake for our Veterans House in Federal Way. It has been a long time since I have spoken out publicly in support of a candidate. But then I read Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s plan for how her administration would address the needs of troops, military families and veterans.

Warren’s veterans’ services proposal is something I can support. It is the most comprehensive plan for supporting veterans and military families that I have heard in a very long time. I have been part of processes where the goal was to balance the budget on the backs of veterans. Some politicians talk a good game, but our benefits are dwindling. Elizabeth Warren is believable and passionate about those who continually keep our country free, and will do what it takes to accomplish that mission.

I am also part of a growing demographic where grandparents are taking care of their grandchildren due to the opioid crisis. While I do not expect the government to pay for everything, I do expect it to be supportive of those who have served and those who currently serve. That is the contract we signed.
