Civil rights and equality in marriage
Jerry Celski’s letter to The Mirror demands a response (“Homosexuals vs. majority,” Nov. 19). The argument presented is that a majority of people defines what is right, and further the majority may restrict the rights of a minority.

French Lake Off-Leash Dog Park is no longer going to the dogs.
In fact, it’s become a horrid mess and isn’t the great place for dogs that it has been in the past.
Last year, access to all 10 of the park’s acres was reduced by half, so that two of the ponds could be filled in. Numerous delays kept dog owners out of that newly “remodeled” area. Having the same number of dogs in half the space for an extended period took its toll on the turf. As soon as the refurbished side was opened, the original side was closed to refurbish the turf in that section.
The Federal Way School District is low on construction money.
And once again the school board has decided to attack the libraries! I found it very interesting that there was no quote from the school librarian at Lakota Middle School in the article about the cafeteria/library proposal (“Parents oppose school’s library/cafeteria combo,” Oct. 22).
Many of you have probably read the articles in The Mirror over the past few years about my wife and my journey through her Alzheimer’s disease.
When reading the Oct. 15 story “Schools tackle cultural divide,” I noticed that it states that 48.3 percent of Federal Way students come from families living in poverty. My definition of poverty must be very different.

Political columnist Angie Vogt’s latest spattering of conservative nattering begs for a response (“Democrats’ lawsuit over GOP tag threatens military vote,” Sept. 27).
I am sick and tired of criminals being pitied in this state and in this country. The article on Tasers that you printed is a perfect example (“Weapon of mass discussion,” Sept. 24).
