Kudos to city for Prometa

Reconsidering the expensive, punitive nature of our “war on drugs,” the legalization of drugs along with an emphasis on treatment would free up a lot of prison space and tax dollars.

We have reduced the use of tobacco through education, not incarceration. The same thing can be accomplished with drug addiction. Rehabilitation is currently a confusing situation. Illegal drug users are reluctant to seek medical help for fear of being charged with a crime. In the event of an overdose, overzealous drug enforcement can very well result in preventable death.

Kudos to Federal Way for its Prometa drug treatment program proposal. Drug abuse is bad, but programs to rehabilitate and to save lives are very good.
