TJ grad Kiyohara named All-Big East in softball

Thomas Jefferson High School graduate Hannah Kiyohara was named first-team, All-Big East Conference in softball after a stellar freshman season.

Kiyohara, a right fielder, led the Louisville Cardinals with a .481 average and was third among all hitters in Big East Conference action. Kiyohara also scored 12 runs and registered 13 RBIs.

Louisville (36-18) will host the NCAA softball regional May 20-22 at Ulmer Stadium. The regional also includes Illinois-Chicago (25-22), California (39-10) and Jacksonville State (39-19).

This marks Louisville’s eighth consecutive NCAA tournament bid and the second time it has hosted an NCAA regional. The winner of the Louisville regional will advance to the Super Regional to play the winner of the Ann Arbor Region.

Louisville received an at-large bid after posting a 36-18 overall record and a runner-up finish in the Big East Conference tournament.
