The Thomas Jefferson girls cross country team outlasted ninth-ranked Auburn Riverside Wednesday on the Ravens’ home course. The unranked Raiders had four of the first five finishers on the 3.1-mile course at Roegner Park in Auburn to down Auburn Riverside, 22-35. Jefferson also beat Auburn, 18-40, during the three-way meet.
Auburn Riverside’s Rachel Atwood won the race in 19:21, but was followed by four TJ runners. Leah Kiyohara finished second in 19:56, Vanessa Church was third in 20:04, Amanda Ditzhazy fourth in 20:21 and Kelin Doner finished fifth in 20:39.
The Raiders’ have another huge test Wednesday when they host Kentridge and the fourth-ranked Tahoma Bears.
On the boys’ side, Jefferson split with Auburn Riverside and Auburn Wednesday. Auburn Riverside edged TJ, 26-29, and the Raiders beat Auburn, 23-33.
Riverside’s Korey Krotzer won the race in 16:41, TJ’s Oscar Iraheta finished second in 16:57 and Yohan Gebrehiwet was fourth in 17:08.
Golf
The Thomas Jefferson boys and girls picked up a sweep over Federal Way Tuesday in SPSL Central action.
The TJ girls remained unbeaten, beating the Eagles, 101-33. Alexus Song earned medalist honors at Northshore with a 2-over, 39. Federal Way’s Emily Victor followed with a 42. Jefferson’s Hannah Yi shot a 43, followed by teammates Jiny Lee (45) and Sarah Yu (50).
On the boys’ side, Jefferson’s A.J. Seo led the Raiders to a 78-59 win with a 1-over, 37 at Riverbend.
The Decatur Gators also picked up a sweep Tuesday. The Gators downed Lakes in both boys’ and girls’ action.
The Decatur girls remained unbeaten on the season with a 129-40 blowout at Twin Lakes. Senior Amanda Beyke led the way by firing an impressive 1-under par, 35 to earn medalist honors.
The Gator boys won 67-51 and were led by Jacob Jones and Spencer Clapp, who both shot 5-over, 41s at Oakbrook.
The Beamer boys beat Auburn Tuesday at Sumner Meadows, 58-49. Nate Smith earned medalist with a 3-over, 39.
Tennis
Jefferson remained perfect on the season with a 5-0 sweep of the Curtis Vikings Wednesday. The win improved the Raiders to 7-0 in SPSL Central play and 10-0 overall. The best match of the day came at No. 3 doubles. TJ’s Jun Park and Hakeem Clark needed three sets to beat Curtis’ Austin Rodgers and Galin Chin, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
Beamer’s lone win during a 4-1 loss to Auburn Riverside Tuesday came from Jimmie Stone at No. 1 singles. Stone beat Dylan Vickers in three sets, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4.
Volleyball
The Todd Beamer Titans evened their record at 1-1 in SPSL South play with a four-game win over Bethel Tuesday, 10-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22. The Titans lost a tough five-gamer to Puyallup in their SPSL South opener last week.
Alexis Jones led Beamer with 10 kills and Sophie Miller finished with 28 assists and seven aces. Megan Stumpf added seven blocks for Beamer.
Girls Soccer
The Todd Beamer Titans (7-0-0) remained unbeaten with a 2-0 victory over Rogers Tuesday night in Puyallup.
Junior Jenny Hoefel tallied her eighth goal of the season in the ninth minute on a pass from senior Breanna Straus. Jenna Floyd added the insurance goal in the 52nd minute on an assist from Hoefel. Meghan Graf snagged the shutout in goal for the Titans.
The Raiders (3-3-0) evened their record in the SPSL North with a 2-0 victory over Auburn Tuesday at home. Senior striker Lindsey Dahl tallied two more goals in the first half to give her nine in TJ’s six games. Both of Dahl’s goals Tuesday came on assists from Chentay Warnes.
Ashlyn Bruin picked up the shutout in net for the Raiders.
The Eagles (2-3-1) picked up a hat trick from Gabriela Pelogi Tuesday during a 5-0 win over Bethel. Federal Way also got two goals from Bianca Arizpe during the win and Sarah Shimer got the shutout in goal.
The Decatur Gators dropped their first SPSL 3A game Tuesday to Bonney Lake, 3-0. The loss dropped the 2-4-0 overall. Bonney Lake’s goals came from Madison Adams, Lindsey Hanbridge and Kassandra Blakely and the Panthers remained unbeaten at 7-0-0.
