Track and Field

Both the Federal Way boys and girls finished eighth at the Bellevue Invitational. The Todd Beamer Titan girls took second, while the boys finished 12th.

Beamer: Teammates Claire Hansen and Madison Heck dominated the 100-meter hurdles, with Hansen winning and Heck taking second. Hansen also took the top spot in the high jump. On the boys side, Leontre Griffin and Kristian Bartel each had fifth-place finishes.

Federal Way: Tony Chan won the shot put, while Sergio Rojas-Luna took third in the pole vault. On the girls side, Esther Brutus and Josephine Akinlosotu each had top finishes.

The Thomas Jefferson girls took fourth, while the boys finished sixth at the Mount Si Invitational. Jeremiah Duckworth had the top finish for the Raider boys, taking first in the triple jump, while Darin Cole took second in the high jump. Jefferson captain Jenna Appleton led the girls with a top finish in the pole vault, while senior Zoe Williams took second in the javelin.

Ben Ray went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the Decatur Golden Gators’ loss to Auburn Mountainview. Adam Taylor and Dylan Lydell each had two hits and an RBI in the loss.

For the second time in a week, Decatur’s Marcos Santos provided a three-goal performance, this time to help lead the Golden Gators past the Thomas Jefferson Raiders.

The Federal Way Eagles won their league meet against the Auburn Trojans in dominating fashion. KJ Ridders took the top spot in the triple jump and second in the 100-meter dash for the boys. Leapagatele Atanoa took the top spot in the shot put, discus and javelin for Federal Way, while Esther Brutus and Makiya Worthy each won two events.

Koby Okezie led the Todd Beamer boys with back-to-back wins in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, while Leontre Griffin won the high and long jumps. The Titan girls had multiple wins by a variety of athletes. Akiya Bell, Emily Odom, Claire Hansen and Briawna Kelly each won two events.
