Federal Way’s Walton sets Final Four record, invited to WNBA draft

Former Federal Way High School basketball player Talia Walton set a women’s Final Four record in the University of Washington’s 80-59 loss to Syracuse in the semifinals on April 3.

Walton made eight 3-pointers on nine attempts. The previous record of six 3-pointers made was set in 1990 by Stanford’s Katy Steding and tied in 2013 by Louisville’s Antonita Slaughter.

She finished with 29 points while the rest of the team combined for 30. It was her final game for Washington.

Walton finishes her college career at fifth all-time in scoring for the Huskies.

It was announced on Tuesday that Walton was one of 12 players invited to the WNBA draft which is being held on Thursday, April 14. The first round of the draft will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 4 p.m.
