Federal Way resident named ‘15-16 Male Freshman of the Year by university sports department

Federal Way resident Spencer Clapp, a freshman on the men's golf team at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California, was recently announced as the 2015-2016 Male Freshman of the Year by the Sonoma State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Federal Way resident Spencer Clapp, a freshman on the men’s golf team at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California, was recently announced as the 2015-2016 Male Freshman of the Year by the Sonoma State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The award is given to the top male freshman student-athlete from all sports and was presented to Clapp for his outstanding contribution to the men’s golf team during their 2015-2016 season, including his performance at the NCAA Regionals held at the University of New Mexico in May. Spencer will return to SSU in August as a sophomore with a renewed scholarship commitment from the SSU men’s golf team for 2016-2017.

Clapp is a Class of 2015 graduate of Decatur High School.
