Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week: Tyrasia Haeup-Woolfolk

Decatur High School’s Tyrasia Haeup-Woolfolk, track and field, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for May 11.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Pre-Calculus

Q: What other activities/hobbies do you participate in?

A: Gymnastics, band, and I like to eat a lot too!

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My sprint coach, hurdle and jump coaches – Isaac Ochoa, Gabby Johnston and Drew Thompson.

Q: Do you have a pre­game/competition ritual or post­game tradition, and what is it?

A: I go over my goals for the meet while listening to music in the car.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “Super Rich Kids (feat. Earl Sweatshirt)” by Frank Ocean

From the sideline: Tyrasia returned to Decatur’s spring track and field season as a district competitor in the high jump and a NPSL competitor in the 100-meter hurdles with the 5th best time in school history. So far this season, Tyrasia has placed 6th at the Kent-Meridian Invite and 1st at the Decatur Invite in the 100-meter hurdles. She also finished 1st in 100-meter hurdles verses Kennedy Catholic, Auburn Riverside and Enumclaw. Tyrasia has accumulated 87 team letter points, which leads the entire girl’s track and field team. Tyrasia is an all-around athlete who contributed to the Decatur gymnastics team’s 6th place team finish at the NPSL league meet. She was a solid all-around competitor all season, including at the WCD 3 Regional meet in February. Her event scores in gymnastics have consistently increased in her second season as a Lady Gator Gymnast. Tyrasia demonstrates natural leadership skills and the internal drive to become a better athlete, all while maintaining a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
