Federal Way High School graduate Kenna Ramey was the lone representative for the University of the Pacific at the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

The sophomore qualified for the event with a blazing 52.57 time in the 100-yard fly at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Feb. 17-20. It is the second year in a row that Pacific has sent at least one swimmer to the NCAAs.

Ramey broke a 13-year-old Pacific record with her 100 fly time. The previous record had belonged to Shannon Catalano, who swam a 53.23 in 2003 and who was inducted this year into the Pacific Hall of Fame. Ramey also led Pacific in the 50 Free this year with a 22.91 swim, just a few tenths of a second off the school record.

The NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships were held March 16-19 in Atlanta, Georgia. Ramey placed 49th in the preliminary round of the Women’s 100 fly event with a time of 53.87.
