Crossfire Premier’s boys U-18 soccer team completed a successful run in the US Soccer Development Academy National Playoffs last week in Greesboro, N.C.
The Redmond-based select team finished 2-0-1 to win their bracket during the Academy National Playoffs. The impressive finish qualified Crossfire for the Elite 8 National Championships, which will kickoff Saturday at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Crossfire’s roster includes recent Federal Way High School graduates Kelyn Rowe and Kodey Eley, Decatur grad Josh Smith and Jefferson senior-to-be Jim Oganga.
The team opened with a 1-1 tie against Ohio’s Columbus Crew on June 26, thanks to a goal by Rowe, who has 19 during Crossfire’s season. They then beat the Dallas Texans 1-0 on June 27 and closed out group play with a decisive victory over Los Angeles FC Chelsea, 4-0.
The US Soccer Development Academy Playoffs were held at Bryan Park Soccer Complex in Greensboro and featured the top-32 teams in the country competing in eight, four-team brackets for the opportunity to advance into the Elite 8 National Championships.
