Federal Way Reign snares three tournament championships

Federal Way United Reign girls soccer teams won three tournament championships last weekend.
The Reign ‘91 White team won a title at the Baker Blast Tournament in Bellingham, the Reign ‘97 Purple and the Reign ‘93 Purple both won age-group titles at the Sounders FC Adidas Cup at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
Reign ‘91 White is coached by Juan Rangel and Kelly Johnston and won the 19-under division at the Baker Blast. The 18-under team played up a year in the competition.
The age group included four Washington teams and four Canadian teams. The Reign team went undefeated and untied the entire weekend while playing five games during the three-day tournament.
Along the way, the team scored 19 goals and allowed two. The team shut out three of the five teams, winning 3-1 against Evergreen ‘91, defeating Nitros, 7-1, and Aces, 4-0. In the semifinals they shutout the Kamloops Blaze, 4-0, and beat Vancouver United, 1-0, in a shootout for the championship. The Reign team scored all five of their penalty kicks during the shootout in the final.
The members of the team that participated in the tournament are Hayley Albrecht, Rachelle Boettcher, Kelli Carlson, AshLee Chard, Stephanie Cross, Ricki Cullum (guest player), Sydney Davis, Karlie Hall, Mariko Hamashima, Hannah Hawkins (guest player), Sarah Johnston, Taylor Kartes, Treva LeRoy, Holly Lontoc, Jul Podawiltz, Ashtin Rigney (guest player) and Madeline Scott.
The next planned competition for the Reign ‘91 White is the Oswego Nike Cup in Oregon July 24 to 26.
The Reign ‘97 Purple is coached by Aaron Kimura and Angela Lee and was also unbeaten during the Sounders FC Adidas Cup last weekend.
The Reign ‘97 team outscored their opponents, 19-3, over the weekend.
They defeated Marauders ‘97 Navy, 7-1, Leahi (Hawaii) ‘98, 3-1, and Dos Red, 3-0, during the preliminary round.
In the semifinals, they beat the Washington champion Highline Eagles, 4-0, and outscored Westsound ‘97 Alire, 2-1, in the final.
The Reign ‘97 Purple included Alyssa Beach, Alyssa Nordman, Cassidy Lane, Chaise Cole, Hannah Kimura, Kacia Rogalla, Kelsey Van Ogle, Lizette Carpenter, Madison Deschamps, Makaylie Moore, Michelle Holmes, Morgan Weaver, Nikki Niemi, Piper Hutchinson and Torrey Tompkins.
Reign ‘97 Purple will be competing next in the Nike Crossfire Challenge, July 11-13.
Reign ‘93 Purple also went undefeated at the Sounders FC Adidas Cup by winning four games and tying one. The team consists of Janell Carlson, Kasey Carrel, Nicolette Carnahan, Madison Cecil, Kenna Friedman, Hannah Friedman, Ashley Graves, Madison Hibbard, Chelsa Jensen, Michelle Knight, Alicia Markey, Obia Muoneke, Danielle Robinson, Sydney Rogalla, Annalise Rutt, Breanna Strauss, Autumn Talney and Breanna Zicarelli. The team is coached by James Cecil.
