PREP SPORTS WRAP: Beamer baseball outlasts Federal Way, 3-2, Monday

The Todd Beamer Titans baseball team squeaked by Federal Way Monday, 3-2. The win kept the Titans (10-2 overall, 7-2 SPSL South) in second place in the South Puget Sound League South Division behind unbeaten Puyallup.

Monday's game was a pitching duel between Beamer's Scott Sunitcsh and Federal Way's Ben Koler. Sunitcsh threw six innings, allowing two runs and striking out 10 to get the win. Blake Randazzo threw the seventh inning for the Titans to earn the save. Koler allowed only five hits for the Eagles (7-5 overall, 6-5 SPSL South).

Beamer's A.J. Ascinas finished 2 for 3 with a run and a double. Federal Way's two runs came on RBIs from Edward Peraza, who finished 2 for 3 with a double.

Decatur — The Gators remained in first place in the SPSL 3A Division with an 8-6 win over Bonney Lake Monday at home.

Decatur (11-4 overall, 8-2 SPSL 3A) sits one game in front of the defending Class 3A state champion Auburn Mountainview Lions (7-3 SPSL 3A).

The Gators collected 12 hits during the game and senior Brandon Zimmerman had a solo home run. Janson Junk got the win on the mound and Taylor Havilcik collected the save.

Softball

Beamer — The Titans got back on track with a 14-2 win over Spanaway Lake Monday. Beamer lost its first game of the SPSL South season Friday to first-place Puyallup.

The Titans (8-3 overall, 7-1 SPSL South) finished with 12 hits and Sophie Afework ended up 3 for 4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Analee Scott was 3 for 4 with a run and Madison Rogers got the win on the mound.

Federal Way — The Eagles were shut out by Graham-Kapowsin Monday, 8-0. Federal Way managed only four hits.

Girls Tennis

In a battle between the leaders of the Narrows League and SPSL Central, the Olympia Bears got the best of Thomas Jefferson, 3-2.

The Raiders' wins came from Cindy Park and Crystal Lee at No. 1 doubles, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2, 10-4 and Rileigh Qualls and Makaylie Moore at No. 3 doubles, 6-4, 6-1.
