GIRLS BASKETBALL: Beamer gets back on track, dominates Olympia in district opener

The third-ranked Todd Beamer girls bounced back from their only loss of the season with a 49-26 win over the Olympia Bears Thursday in the opening round of the West Central/Southwest District Tournament.

The Titans (20-1) beat up the fourth seed from the Narrows League at Beamer and will take on the Kentridge Chargers in the district quarterfinals at 1 p.m. at Rogers High School on Saturday. The winner will earn an automatic berth into the Class 4A Regional Tournament. Kentridge (16-6) finished third in the South Puget Sound League North Division.

Beamer was beaten on Tuesday in the SPSL Championship game by the Mount Rainier Rams.

The Beamer defense held Olympia to single-digit points in all four quarters Thursday, including just 10 in the first half. The Titans took a 12-6 lead after the first quarter and led 29-10 at halftime.

Beamer got 17 points from senior Megan Huff and 11 from Bria Rice.
