For the first time since the 2010 season, the Federal Way football team can say they lost a South Puget Sound League South Division contest.

Graham-Kapowsin dominated Federal Way and ended the program's 19-game SPSL South Division winning streak Thursday night at Art Crate Field, 39-21. Seventh-ranked Graham-Kapowsin (3-0) is still unbeaten team in the South. The loss, which was regionally televised on ROOT Sport, dropped third-ranked Federal Way to 2-1 on the season.

Graham-Kapowsin got four touchdown runs from tailback Teague James and the Federal Way's offense just couldn't get anything going against the very physically-tough defense. Graham-Kapowsin racked up 426 yards of offense Thursday

The domination by Graham-Kapowsin started from the get-go Thursday night. They took their opening drive 62 yards for a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Graham-Kapowsin then scored on back-to-back drives in the second quarter to take a 19-0 lead with 3:51 left in the first half.

Federal Way's Chico McClatcher finally got the Eagles' on the scoreboard late in the first half with a 5-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 19-7. McClatcher ended up with 141 yards on just eight carries, including an 83-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.

But Graham-Kapowsin tallied two more touchdowns in the third quarter to extend the lead to 32-7 heading into the final 10 minutes. The Eagles scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including McClatcher's 83-yarder to tighten the final.

Federal Way senior quarterback Keenan Curran finished with 90 yards on 11 carries. The Eagles hope to get back on track Thursday home against the Bethel Braves.

Jefferson 35, Kent-Meridian 7

The Raiders moved to 2-1 in the SPSL North with an impressive blowout victory over the Kent-Meridian Royals Thursday night at French Field.

No other details were reported. The Raiders take on the Todd Beamer Titans Friday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium in a non-league contest.
