Jefferson pitcher Brittany Still was unhittable Thursday.
The sophomore tossed a perfect game during a 13-0, five-inning win over the Federal Way Eagles Thursday afternoon at Jefferson. Still allowed no hits, walked no one and the Raider defense didnt commit an error. She also struck out four and got Federal Way hitters on numerous pop outs in foul territory with solid off-speed pitches.
The win over Federal Way moved the Raiders to 3-1 to start the South Puget Sound League South Division schedule and into a three-team tie for second place behind the 2-0 Puyallup Vikings. Jeffersons only loss came against Emerald Ridge, 2-0, on March 21.
We are playing well, said TJ head coach Chad Fahnlander. Our loss to Emerald Ridge was because of lack of execution, but our team should be past that.
Besides the Emerald Ridge loss, the Raider offense isnt having any trouble scoring runs. Jefferson has tallied 39 runs in their three wins. The Raiders are being led by second baseman Kristi Sigafoos and catcher Shawntay Thong. On the season, Sigafoos is 12 for 17 with two doubles and a triple and Thong has two home runs and a triple.
Against Federal Way, Sigafoos finished 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Thong was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run during the Raiders 10-run third inning. Stephanie Ogle and Laruen Stark were also 3-for-3 for TJ.
The loss dropped Federal Way to 0-4 on the year.
Baseball
The defending SPSL champion Todd Beamer Titans remained unbeaten with a solid 9-5 win over the Curtis Vikings Friday. At 5-0, Beamer is the lone undefeated team in the SPSL South.
Junior Matt Hart pretty much did everything for the Titans. The right-hander threw the first three innings to earn the victory on the mound. He was also 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, three RBIs and three stolen bases. Junior Cole Bixenman finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double.
Thomas Jefferson (4-1) remained one-game back of Beamer with a 4-0 shutout of the Federal Way Eagles (2-2) Thursday afternoon. Jeff Plute moved to 2-0 on the season with a complete-game, three-hitter.
Federal Ways Dustin Horsfall also threw a complete-game, giving up just six hits.
Decatur (4-2) moved over .500 on the year with a 6-5 win over Emerald Ridge in eight innings Thursday and a 12-2 blowout of Spanaway Lake on Monday.
The Gators pounded out 12 hits, including three from Brady Kincannon, against Emerald Ridge and got two home runs from Justin Lee against Spanaway Lake. Brock Gates also connected on a two-run homer in the game.
Soccer
Beamer (2-1-1) got a hat trick from junior Sean Davis and two goals from Peyton Lane during a 9-0 blowout Dalton Thomas also had a goal and three assists.
Tennis
Both Jefferson and Beamer remained unbeaten in SPSL South play last week.
The Raiders moved to 3-0 with a 3-2 win Thursday over Curtis and Beamer also improved to 3-0 with a 5-0 shut out of Federal Way Thursday and a 4-1 win over Decatur Monday. Puyallup and Rogers are also undefeated in the SPSL South.
