Federal Way resident D.J. Mazzola isn’t $100,000 richer. The 20-year-old came up short at the 2006 EA Sports Madden Challenge last weekend in Honolulu as part of the NFL’s Pro Bowl weekend. The Challenge featured 32 of the best Madden 2006 football video game players.

The winner-take-all tournament was won by Jarvis Thompson of Minneapolis.

Mazzola qualified for the Madden Challenge by winning a regional qualifier in Nashville in October. Mazzola outlasted over 300 other players to win the title in Tennessee.

By winning the spot in the 2006 EA Sports Madden Challenge, Mazzola received an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii for him and a friend valued at over $7,500.
