Seven up, seven down for Eagles
By CASEY OLSON
The Federal Way Eagle baseball team remained unbeaten (7-0, 5-0) in the South Puget Sound League South with a solid 5-3 win over the Puyallup Vikings Tuesday and a 7-0 shut out of the Spanaway Lake Sentinels Wednesday.
Against Puyallup, Federal Way took a 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two in the third. But Puyallup, one of the better teams in the South, tallied three runs of their own in the top of the fourth to tie up the game.
But Federal Way scored two in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away. Josh Elmquist moved to 2-0 on the year by throwing the first five innings. Senior Doug Lottes threw the sixth and seventh.
Senior centerfielder Thomas Watts hit his third home run of the season and finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Jon Flood was 3-for-3 and Nick Harteau had a pair of stolen bases.
Senior Kyle Henselman was the star against Spanaway Lake. The lefty threw a complete-game two-hitter, striking out 10, and was also 3-for-4 with two doubles at the plate. Junior Nick Harteau was a home run away from the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a single, double and triple.
