Raiders highlight cross country All-City squad

The Federal Way School District had another solid cross country season. Both the boys and girls teams at Jefferson rolled through the South Puget Sound League South Division without a blemish and four individuals, along with the entire six-girl Raider team, ran at last month’s Class 4A state championships in Pasco.

Jefferson sophomore Hilorie Hildebrandt earned all-state honors with a 17th place finish at the state meet and headlines the 2003 All-City cross country teams. Hildebrandt’s Raider team earned a trophy at the state meet by finishing up in seventh place. Jessica Schroeder, Chelsea Dier and Natalie Jarvey, who were key parts in Jefferson’s season, also earned places on the All-City team.

Joining the Raider foursome are a pair of Decatur runners who participated at the state meet — Becky Williams and Brittany Fanning — Beamer’s No. 1 runner, McKinley Williams and Federal Way’s Carmen Acuna.

On the boys’ side, the All-City cross country team is also highlighted by a Jefferson runner. Senior Kyle Anderson swept through the SPSL South regular season unbeaten and finished up in 49th place at the state meet. Decatur’s Shaun Helm was the only other boy runner at the state meet — finishing up in 61st.

Joining Anderson and Helm are Jefferson’s Bryce Gravel and Erik Church, Beamer’s Stephen Graddon and Federal Way’s Eli Harry.
