The Decatur Gators squeaked into the volleyball postseason with a three-game win over the Thomas Jefferson Raiders Tuesday, 25-8, 25-9, 25-8.
The win over Jefferson gave the Gators a 5-4 record in the South Puget Sound League South Division and put them in fifth-place in the South. Five teams from the South advanced to the SPSL Tournament, which started yesterday at Auburn Riverside High School and will conclude today.
Decatur took on three-time Class 4A state champion Kentlake yesterday (after press time) in a loser-out match. Kentlake finished fourth in the SPSL North.
If Decatur beat Kentlake, they will play at 10 a.m. today at Auburn Riverside against the loser of a match between Auburn (North No. 2) and Bethel (South No. 3).
The winner of that match will play again at noon for the fifth/sixth seed to the West Central District Tournament. The loser will play in a loser-out match for the seventh spot to districts at 2 p.m.
