Rik Haines resigned his position as the head coach of the Decatur High School football team on Thursday.

Haines has been the coach at Decatur for the past four seasons after coaching Redmond High School for nine years.

“He plans to move to the Orlando (Fla.) area to be closer to his family,” said Decatur athletic director Greg Flynn.

The Gators were 6-3 in the South Puget Sound League South Division last year. His career record at Decatur was 18-21.
