In front of one of the biggest crowds of the season, the Jefferson wrestling team didn’t disappoint with a 47-22 win over Federal Way.

“I think everybody was up for the match,” Jefferson coach Brett Lucas said. “It’s Federal Way, it’s senior night and there was a huge crowd. It’s nice to wrestle in that kind of atmosphere.”

One of the better matches of the night was at 189 pounds. Jefferson’s Adam Summers got by Olan Calrson 6-4.

At 130 pounds, Ludevic Mea beat Michael Markey 16-7 in a tight match.

“They’re both very good competitors,” Lucas said. “They met one time earlier this season and Mea pinned him in the first round. Markey asked to wrestle him because he wanted to see if he has improved over the season.”

With the win, Jefferson is now 2-5. It wrestles Puyallup tonight.

“We’re looking good going into the district tournament,” Lucas said.

Jefferson winners Friday include Kris Lay, David Markey, Brian Moehrle, Galen Hensley, Mark McLaughlin, Nick Vincent, Adam Summers, Ricky Leiser and rick Aholelei.

Winners from Federal Way were J. Maguway, Corey Garritone, Ludevic Mea, Robbie Borden and Brad Torkelson.
