Decatur boys fall to Puyallup 65-60 in OT

The Decatur boys basketball team played one of its best games of the year but came up just short in a 65-60 overtime loss to Puyallup last Friday.

Puyallup led 48-38 lead at the end of the third quarter, but Decatur went on a 17-7 run to tie the game at 55 and send it into overtime. Puyallup regrouped for the extra period and escaped with a win.

Tamarria Landers scored 20 and Brandon Hicks added 16 to lead Decatur.

Decatur falls to 1-3 in the SPSL and 1-5 overall. Its next league game is 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at Emerald Ridge (2-2 league, 2-4 overall).

Emerald Ridge 67, Federal Way 57

Federal Way lost its first SPSL game Friday to Emerald Ridge 67-57.

Nate Sanchez scored 18, Darius Alo added a career-high 17 and Myron Hennings scored 13 for the Eagles, who fell to second place in the SPSL South behind Curtis.

After the winter break, the Eagles play a 7:30 p.m. game on Jan. 7 at Rogers.

Rogers 65, Jefferson 57

Jefferson junior guard Kyle Jenkins went off for 28 points, but it wasnŽ’t quite enough as the Raiders fell to Rogers 65-57 last Friday.

Jared Bronson added 12 points for TJ.

Jefferson dropped to 0-3 in the SPSL South heading into the winter break.

The RaidersŽ’ next game is at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at Bethel (2-1)
