Gators offense ready to run

The Decatur football team is looking to improve on last seasonŽ’s 3-5 record ŽÑŽÊand avenge a heartbreaking, last-second loss to cross-town rival Federal Way in the second game of the season. While Decatur has never made the playoffs, this team could build a foundation to start a winning tradition.

The strength of this seasonŽ’s Decatur offense is a backfield of juniors: mobile quarterback Darin Harris, speedy tailback Tracy Ford and powerful fullback Kyle Bressler.

All three contributed when given playing time last year as sophomores and that experience should pay of this season.

Ž“We have an opportunity to be a very good football team,Ž” said coach Rik Haines, in his fourth season at Decatur.

Others looking to make an impact for the Gators include senior Charles Cooks, senior Jake Wheeler, senior Joe Isaac, senior Justin Smith, junior Barry Driskell, senior Gavin Johnson and senior Nate Marotta.

Decatur plays Spanaway Lake at 7 p.m. Friday at Federal Way Memorial Field.

Mark your calendar for the cross-town rivalry game against Federal Way at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20.
