Decatur, TJ tennis teams win

Jefferson defeated Emerald Ridge and Decatur topped Puyallup by identical 4-1 scores in South Puget Sound League girls tennis contests last Thursday.
Other than Katie Owens 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Jeffersons Katie Schultz in the No. 1 singles contest, the Raiders were in charge. Natalia Goding beat Amanda Wales 7-5, 6-3 in No. 2 singles, while the doubles teams Twila Moss-Jessiye Clark, Faye Lai-Mitzi Moore and Killian Lange-Kaelah Kain prevailed 6-2, 6-3 over Tina McCool/Shana McCoy, 6-1, 6-3 over Ashley Thompson-Maribeth Magbulos, and 6-2, 6-4 over Sophe Scheidt-Joalynn Jette 6-2, 6-4, respectively.
Decaturs only loss also was in No. 1 singles, as Puyallups Michelle Sekyra stopped Monica Loera-Sanchez 6-1, 6-1.
Winners for Decatur were Desiree Nguyen over Bryn Ellison 6-0, 6-1 in No. 2 singles, and in doubles, No. 1 team Francesca Dedaj-Suzanne Hitztaler over Crystal Philes-Meagan Lind 6-4, 6-2, No. 2 duo Jamie Chan-Meera Kumar over Alii Kaholokula-Gina Huong 6-3, 6-2, and No. 3 unit Amanda Font-Jill Yotz over Jamie Brown-Athena Sampson 6-2, 6-3.
