Raiders finish second at districts

Members of the Jefferson swim team broke two school records en route to a second place finish at last weekend’s West Central District swimming meet at Rogers. Puyallup won the meet with 232 points.

Decatur, led by Joon Youm’s two victories, finished fourth with 153.5 points and Federal Way scored 119 points to take fifth out of the 15 teams competing.

Jefferson senior Trevor Cray won the 50-yard freestyle in a school record 22.48 seconds.

Cray also finished second in the 100 freestyle race and helped two of Jefferson’s relay teams to second place finishes in the 200 medley and the 200 freestyle.

Decatur’s team of Youm, Tyson Sullivan, Kevin Sweeney and Adam Reinick won the medley relay, but Jefferson’s medley relay team consisting of Cray, Jason Hesla, Matt Diotte and Andrew Jung set a school record in the process.

Decatur’s Youm won the 200 IM and helped lead a city sweep in the 100 breaststroke. Youm’s teammate Sullivan was second, Jefferson’s Hesla was third, and Federal Way’s Greg Hiett was fourth.
