Decatur girls fall short in comeback bid

The Decatur girls basketball team trailed by as many as 18 points, but clawed their way back within two with 10 seconds left.

With the score 50-48, Rogers converted two free throws to seal the win.

Seniors Cristina Null and Dekeidra Brewer led Decatur on the offensive end of the court.

Null scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Brewer had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Decatur fell to 0-2 in the league and 0-4 overall.

The Gators look for their first win of the season when they host Puyallup at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Bethel 58, Federal Way 31

Federal Way scored just two points in the first eight minutes and fell behind Bethel 21-2 after the first quarter. It was a deficit the Eagles couldn’t overcome as they lost for the first time, 58-31.

Heleine Kaufusi and Tamara Simpson scored six points each. Tasha Alsbrooks added five as Federal Way fell to 1-1 in the league and 3-1 overall.
