The Jefferson girls basketball team took a field trip up the Olympic Peninsula last weekend and came home with a a pair of victories as souvenirs.

The Raiders downed Port Angeles 66-58 in front of a packed gym Friday. Less than 24 hours later, the Raiders came up winners against Sequim 61-47.

Port Angeles — who knocked Jefferson out of the playoffs last season — was the No. 8 ranked team in the state heading into the contest.

Against Port Angeles, the Raiders trailed by 10 in the first quarter before battling back to trail 30-29 at halftime. In the second half, the Raiders turned up the defensive pressure and forced key turnovers that were converted into Jefferson points. Senior guard Michelle Morse scored 31 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds. Senior Mitzi Moore scored 11 points and had seven rebounds.

On Saturday against Sequim, Morse broke the school single-game scoring record with 36 points before leaving the game in the third quarter. Senior guard Jessiye Clark added 10 points and tied a school record with 10 assists.

Jefferson is 3-0 after defeating the No. 3 team in the state, Enumclaw, last week.
