Fastpitch: Raiders slide past Gators 3-1
" The Jefferson fastpitch team used two runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Decatur 3-1 Friday at Celebration Park. Decatur came out playing hard, played a lot of small ball, a lot of bunting, Jefferson coach Kevin Hanis said. Our kids rose to the occasion. We were hitting the ball well at the start, then ended up finding the holes. It was a good solid game of fastpitch. Jefferson starting pitcher Natasha Lindsey struck out eight batters to earn the win. Jefferson sophomore Chelsea Hunt was 2-4 with a double and an RBI. There's a lot of people contributing, Hanis said. If some of our kids are having an off night, others step up. Some of the key players contributing to Jefferson's success include Marisa Aslanian, Tawnya Guthrie, Rachel Girello and Erin Johnson, Hanis said. Jefferson's next game is against Curtis at 4 p.m. on April 17 at Jefferson. Decatur plays against Puyallup at 4 p.m. on April 17 at Decatur. The Gators are hoping to get on track with some wins in the second half of the season. We've made great progress, Decatur coach Greg Flynn said. We haven't won yet, but we're getting closer and closer. "
