Tryouts for men and women's U-16 through U-18 teams are on March 10-11. The women are at Federal Way Stadium and men are at Sacajawea Park starting with the U-16 tryouts at 9 a.m., U-17 tryouts at 10:45 a.m. and U-18 tryouts are at 12:30 p.m. Girls and boys teams are also forming for the U-11 through U-15 age groups. Girls tryouts are on March 17, 18 and 25 at Federal Way Stadium. Boys tryouts are on March 17, 18 and 24 at Sacajawea Park. U-15 tryouts start at 8 a.m., U-11 tryouts are at 9:45 a.m., U-12 tryouts are at 11:30 a.m., U-13 tryouts are at 1 p.m. and U-14 tryouts are at 2:45 p.m.All players must attend two tryout sessions. Arrive 30 minutes early for registration. Players must bring a ball, a water bottle and appropriate dress. Shinguards and a $5 fee are required for participation in tryouts. Federal Way Stadium is at 1300 S. 308th Street and Sacajawea Park is at 1101 S. Dash Point Road. GIrls born after Jan. 1, 1990 are eligible. Contact Al Merlich at (253) 946-1857.Federal Way Girls Fastpitch Association is offering signups for both new and returning players at Sea-Tac Mall on Jan. 27. These sign ups are for girls between the ages of 6 and 16 (as of Jan. 1) who would like to play fastpitch softball. The signups will take place near Mervyn's between the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit their Web site at www.FWGFA.com.The Magic, a 16B fastpitch team, is looking for girls experienced in playing fastpitch. Interested participants must be available to play in weekend tournaments both locally and out of the area. The team plans on a schedule of playing tournaments about twice a month with an emphasis on local tournaments, with some travel between March and August. Last year the team played a total of about 70 league and tournament games, including the 14B Regional Tournament in Beaverton, Ore., and a tournament in Surrey, British Columbia. The team practices primarily in the Federal Way and Auburn area.
