TJ girls win again in last seconds

"For the third time this season, and the second time in as many games, the Jefferson girls basketball team managed to escape with a victory in the final seconds of a game.Jefferson beat Decatur 56-55 Friday. My heart is getting bad because of all these close calls, Jefferson junior Jessiye Clark said. Our experience helped. We have confidence and we trust each other. We just have good composure, said Jefferson junior guard Michelle Morse. After Jefferson took a time out with 12.6 seconds left, Clark found Morse cutting under the hoop on the inbounds pass. Morse missed the layup but was fouled on the shot, and converted one of two free throws to take a one-point lead. Decatur had a chance to win but missed a shot as time expired. Morse scored 22 points, 10 of those in the fourth quarter. It gives us a boost to beat our cross town rivals, Morse said. They're a great team and they'll be waiting for us in their gym. Clark finished the game with 18 points, including four three-pointers. A strong inside presence from Decatur's six-foot junior post Christina Null helped the Gators fend off the smaller Jefferson team. Null finished with 19 points while Jennifer Morrow had seven points for the Gators. Jefferson (6-1) plays at 7:30 p.m. on Friday when the Raiders host Spanaway Lake (3-4). Decatur (3-4) has a bye Friday. "
