Twin Lakes downs Marine Hills for fifth win

"Twin Lakes won just one meet last summer and none the previous three summers, but on Thursday, the Penguins picked up their fifth win of the summer swim league season with a 443-298 victory over crosstown rival Marine Hills.Twin Lakes senior swimmer Troy Davidson broke a 21-year-old Marine Hills pool record with a time of 49.27 in the 100-yard freestyle. Davidson also won the 100 IM.A lot of kids after last season started swimming year-round, said coach Dave Connor, explaining Twin Lakes' success this season. Everyone is having a good year. Everyone is excited.Twin Lakes had several multiple winners. They are: the 10 and under girls, Katie Matulic won the 25 butterfly, 50 breast and the 100 IM;In the 12-and-under division, Ariana Kukors won the 100 IM and the 50 free for Twin Lakes. Chris McColgan won the 50 free and the 500 back;In the 14-and-under division, Laura Heydon won the 50 and 100 free and the 50 backstroke. Brittini Lowry won the 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke and the 100 IM. Alan Silver won the 50 butterfly and the 50 free;In the 18-and-under division, Adam Reinick won the 50 breaststroke and 50 free. Garrett McCaffrey won the 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke. Christine Heydon won the 50 back and the 100 IM.Twin Lakes also dominated the relay events, winning 14 of the 20 events.The other event winners for Twin Lakes were: Bethany Cree, Eric Johnson, Mattie Ann Kokurs, Briley Boggs, Erich Matulic, Jessica Soria, Stephanie Sutton, Brandon Boyle, Kellen McCaffrey, Kelly Erickson, Tasia Esparza, Bradley Ledoux and Jilliane Sonia.Four Marine Hills swimmers also won two events. They are: In the 8-and-under division Tyler Cratsenberg won the 25 breaststroke and the 25 free; Chase McLaughlin won the 25 free and the 25 backstroke.In the 10-and-under division, Joey Larsen won the 100 IM and the 50 breaststroke. Kyle Christensen won the 25 butterfly and the 50 backstroke.The other Marine Hills winners were: Tommy Cunningham, Jevyn Knight, Shandip Banerjee, Virginia Larsen, Lincoln Larsen and Lyla Hanna.We're having great swims, said Marine Hills coach Emily Svalstedt.
