GIRLS BASKETBALL: Federal Way, Beamer win SPSL South Division games

The Federal Way Eagles overcame a rugged first quarter to beat the Curtis Vikings Thursday night, 60-49.

The win moved the Eagles into third place in the South Puget Sound League South Division with a 10-2 record. Beamer and Puyallup are tied atop the division at 10-1.

Curtis jumped out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter. But the Eagles outscored the Vikings, 51-30 in the first three quarters.

Raven Benton again led he way for the Eagles with 25 points. Kayla Smith finished with 14 and Mariyah Vongsaveng chipped in 12.

Beamer — The Titans (12-3 overall, 10-1 SPSL South) blew away Spanaway Lake Thursday night, 72-57. Beamer led 44-21 at halftime and cruised in the second half.

The Titans had four players score in double figures, led by 15 from freshman Quinessa Caylao-Do. Bria Rice finished with 14 and Megan Huff and Makayla Sullivan tallied 10 points each.

Jefferson — The Raiders (3-11 overall, 2-9 SPSL North) were upended by Auburn Riverside Thursday night. Jefferson controlled the first half, taking a 33-29 lead after the second quarter.

Jada Piper finished with 12 points and Jaylynn Piper finished with 11 for TJ.
