The Steel Lake Little League 9- and 10-year-old all-star softball team made a little history last weekend. The girls won the District 10 championship Friday night with a pair of wins over Tahoma Little League.

Steel Lake downed Tahoma, 11-9, in the first championship game to force a second game, which Steel Lake won, 5-3. The district title earns Steel Lake a berth into the Washington State Tournament at Sunset Park in Auburn, starting July 15.

Steel Lake actually lost its first game of the District 10 Tournament to Tahoma, 6-1, forcing them to win five straight games to win the title. Steel Lake beat Bonney Lake, 24-3, Soundview, 5-2, and Fife-Milton, 14-4, to earn the berth into the championship. The tournament was played at the South King County Ball Fields off of Military Road.

The team includes Briana Bircher, Madeline Colson, Shelina Crowl, Jenna Floyd, Jasmin Fulmore, Kate Jackson, Megan Jewett-Chan, Courtney March, Brittany Orlosky, Kayla Quiroga, Morgan Snyder, Celine Woo and Alyssa Woods. The team is coached by Terome Fulmore and Chuck Woods.
