Defective headlight casts light
On Jan. 31 at approximately 10:10 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling along 7th Ave. with a defective headlight. The vehicle was stopped and an officer approached the male driver. Liquor was detected on the drivers breath. The driver provided a sample of breath, which provided a fail reading. The driver was detained and escorted to the detachment where the driver provided samples of breath, which exceeded the legal limit. A three-month driving prohibition was issued.
24-hour suspensions handed out
On Feb. 3 at approximately 2:23 a.m. police issued a 24-hour prohibition for driving as a result of a roadside check for sobriety on 4th Street in Invermere. An Invermere male lost his driving privileges for 24 hours. Alcohol was a factor.
Also on Feb. 3, at approximately 2:45 a.m., police issued a 24-hour prohibition for driving as a result of a roadside check for sobriety on 8th Avenue in Invermere. A Calgary female lost her driving privileges for 24 hours. Alcohol was a factor.
Male busted for Martin Morigeau B&E
On Feb. 4 at 6 a.m. Columbia Valley RCMP responded to an alarm at Martin Morigeau Elementary School in Canal Flats. RCMP met with the property reference of the school and found that a single individual had smashed several windows of the school and gained entry through one of the broken windows. The male was throwing items out of the windows and was interrupted when the property reference arrived. The male was arrested and later released for a court date in April.
Drinking leads to domestic disturbance
In the early hours of Feb. 4, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a domestic disturbance in Athalmer. Police found that after an evening of drinking a male subject became enraged and physically threw his girlfriend to the ground and then took a golf club to their television. The male was arrested and later released on conditions of no contact and now has a court date for March.
Impaired woman crashes mini van
On Feb. 6 at approximately 10 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Eacrett Rd., Radium Hot Springs. A mini van was found overturned in the ditch. The female driver who was on scene was detained for impaired driving. Breath samples were obtained at the detachment, which exceeded the legal limit. Police investigation is ongoing.
Youth charged for quadding in Windermere
On Feb. 9, police received report of a quad driving erratically in Windermere. Police located two youths, one of whom was charged for having no valid insurance.
Booze factor in crash
On Feb. 9 police received report of a single vehicle accident on Hwy. 93 near the Radium Hot Springs Pools. A 33-year-old Calgary woman had driven off road right into a snow bank. She faces charges of Driving Without Due Care and Attention and received a 24-hour driving suspension as alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Public intoxication at PMV
On Feb. 10, police were called to Panorama Mountain Village after an intoxicated male was apprehended by security staff for breaking a window. A 17-year-old St. Albert, Alta. male was detained until sober and charged with public intoxication.
