Shampoo wins Federal Way Handicap at EmDowns

By CASEY OLSON

The Mirror

Shampoo was the fan favorite to win the $60,000 Federal Way Handicap Saturday at Emerald Downs and the filly did not disappoint, winning her second consecutive stakes.

The 3-year-old daughter of Gulch, conditioned by Doris Harwood, was ridden out of the four-hole with Mick Ruis in the irons. The filly won the U.S. Bank Stakes May 12, the first-leg of the Washington Oaks series. The final race in the series is the 28th running of the $100,000 Washington Oaks on Aug. 18.

Shampoo reared in the gate prior to the race, but she settled down and broke cleanly, stalking the early leaders Broker
