Beamer soccer remains perfect on the year
The Todd Beamer girls soccer team just continues rolling through the South Puget Sound League South Division. The Titans improved to 7-0-0 in league play and 9-0-0 overall with a 4-1 win over second-place Puyallup (5-2-0) Tuesday night.
Puyallup actually tallied the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute of the match. It was the first time this season that Beamer has been behind in a game and the goal was the first the Titans have given up since their opening match of the season, Sept. 4.
On the year, Beamer has scored 45 goals in nine games and given up only two. But the deficit didnt last too long Tuesday. The Titans banged in the next four goals, including three from Brittany Orr. Orrs goals came in the 38th, 60th and 74th minutes. Beamers other goal came from Holland Crook in the 54th minute. Orrs three goals give her eight on the season and Crook leads the team with 13.
The Decatur Gators handed Tahoma (8-0-1) its first blemish of the season Tuesday by tying the Bears, 1-1. The Gators (2-3-4) took a 1-0 lead just before halftime on a goal from Carissa Frasier. Tahomas Kristina Snaring tied the game in the 66th minute.
The Federal Way Eagles (1-3-3) picked up their first SPSL North victory in blowout fashion Tuesday with a 14-0 win over Kent-Meridian. The Eagles entered the game with only eight goals in their eight previous matches.
Federal Way got a hat trick from Kendal Feider, two goals from Kaitlyn Keyes, Alleah Pac, Haley Ward, Jacqie Evenson and single goals from Lydia Berger, Megan Stokes and Ivanca Frerichs.
Jefferson picked up a big win over Kentwood Tuesday, 98-87. The Raiders got a pair of wins from Amy Friedhoff in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.99) and 500 free (5:13.37). Jeffersons Alyssa Kellar won diving with 111.55 points, Elyse Bevers in the 100 butterfly (1:08.31) and Savannah Coe in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.94).
The Todd Beamer boys swept a three-team meet Tuesday with Puyallup and Graham-Kapowsin. The Titans beat Puyallup, 26-29, and Graham-Kapowsin, 15-50.
Puyallups Rob Webster rolled to a school and course record at Wildwood Park to win the race in 14:18, but Beamer runners snared the next three spots. Ryan Eidsmore finished second in 15:22, Keegan Claxton was third (15:36) and Adam Lee was fourth in 15:40.
The Jefferson boys lost a heart-breaker to Kentlake Tuesday, 69-68. Brent Brown earned medalist honors with a 3-over at Jade Greens Golf Course and Kramer Thompson fired a 40 for TJ.
The Decatur boys were beaten by Curtis, 77-72, Tuesday at Twin Lakes. The Gators Matt Parker fired a 1-over, 37, and Colin McKenzie and Gavin Cuddie both shot 40s.
