Second-ranked Federal Way humbled Auburn, 43-0, in a South Puget Sound League crossover football game Friday night in which two star Trojans left the field with serious injuries.

Senior all-purpose back Harold Lee and junior quarterback Brier Atkinson were placed on stretchers and taken away by ambulance for Auburn (6-2) in the first half.

Both reportedly were doing OK. Lee is recovering from a concussion, Atkinson from whiplash symptoms after both took hard hits in the game. Both were responsive as they left the field by ambulance.

Lee fell to the turf after a helmet-to-helmet tackle while returning a kickoff with 11 minutes, 39 seconds remaining in the second quarter and Federal Way (8-0) leading 16-0.

Later, with 1:43 left in the second quarter, Atkinson threw an interception and was blindsided on the return.

Zeek McNeal ran for 264 yards, including touchdown runs of 92, 21 and 56 yards, to lead the Eagles. Chico McClatcher added a 44-yard touchdown run and Rod Jones Jr. scored on runs of 1 and 6 yards.

Auburn, which saw its six-game winning streak come to an end, completes the regular season against Auburn Riverside (1-7). Kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday.
