SPORTS BRIEF: FW's Meagher named NFL High School Coach of the Week

Federal Way High School football coach John Meagher will be honored by the Seattle Seahawks, Sterling Savings Bank and the Washington State Football Coaches Association as the NFL High School Coach of the Week.

Meagher will be presented an award by Jennifer Dunn from Sterling Savings Bank Federal Way before the Eagles’ Oct. 22 game against Spanaway Lake at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.

The award came during the third week of the season when unbeaten and eighth-ranked Federal Way beat Bethel.

“I want to thank the Seattle Seahawks and Sterling Savings Bank for this award,” Meagher said. “I appreciate the honor, but I also recognize that I would not be receiving this award without the tireless dedication and excellence of my assistant coaches and fantastic play of the Federal Way Eagle football players.”

Meagher will receive a coaches kit, a custom replica jersey from Sterling Savings Bank, a $225 Sports Authority gift card and a $500 donation for Federal Way’s football program.

He is also now eligible to win Coach of the Year honors.
