The Federal Way Lady Knights 12-under fastpitch team won the Silver Championship last weekend at the Fun in The Sun Invite in Tacoma. The Knights beat the Cobras from the Enumclaw-Buckley area in the title game, 6-5.

The Knights never led in the game until the final inning. Down by a run, Sophie Afework led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Tricia Hultman. Emily Sanchez advanced the runners with a bunt, and reached base herself when the Cobra pitcher misplayed the ball.

With the bases loaded, no outs and Grace Sunitsch at the plate, a Cobra wild pitch scored Afework and advanced Hultman to third.

Taking an aggressive lead on the next pitch enticed the catcher to throw behind Hultman. The throw hit her in the foot as she dove back to third and Hultman scrambled to her feet and scored the winning run.

Clutch hitting and baserunning were key, along with an outstanding pitching performance by Kylie Lensegrav, who came into the game in relief and threw four scoreless innings.
