The Reign ‘98 Purple girls soccer team won the Rainier Challenge tournament in Puyallup recently.

The tournament started with a 1-1 draw against Greater Renton FC, a 3-2 win over University Place United the next day and a 2-1 win over Crossfire Premier on Saturday. In the semifinals, the Reign beat Eastside FC, 2-1, qualifying them for the final against Greater Renton FC.

During the championship, the two teams played to a 1-1 tie after regulation. The Reign eventually scored in the first overtime session and held on for the win. The team is coached by James Cecil.
