Sports Briefs: High schools offering several basketball, wrestling and volleyball camps

• The Todd Beamer High School boys basketball team is hosting a summer camp from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27 through June 30. The camp is for boys and girls entering second through 12th grade.

The camp will include individual fundamentals, passing, shooting, ball handling, rebounding, team strategies and work ethic. The camp is $75 per camper with prior registration or $85 at the door.

• The Federal Way High School football team, in conjunction with the Federal Way Hawks junior football program, is hosting a football camp from 2 to 4 p.m. at Federal Way Memorial Stadium July 26-28.

The camp is open to boys from 7 to 12 years old and all ability levels. There will be no pads and campers are coached by the Federal Way High School football players and supervised by Eagle coaches. The fee is $50 and includes a football and T-shirt. The focus will be on the proper football technique and fun.

Campers are asked to bring athletic clothes and football cleats or athletic shoes. For more information, contact head coach John Meagher at jmeagher@fwps.org.

 

• The Federal Way High School volleyball team is hosting a camp from 5 to 7 p.m. June 20-23.

The Eagle Volleyball Camp is for incoming fifth- through ninth-graders. The cost is $35 per camper and includes a T-shirt. Campers are asked to bring athletic shoes, kneepads and a water bottle. • The Federal Way High School wrestling team will host their third annual wrestling camp from June 27 to July 1, from 9 a.m. to noon each day at Federal Way High School. The camp is for students 5 years old through middle school.

The cost is $70 per student with discounts given to families with multiple participants. Partial scholarships are available for families who qualify. All students who register on time will receive a camp T-shirt. Early registration ends on June 17 and funds raised will support the Federal Way wrestling team.

• Decatur High School will host the 2011 Gator Basketball Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from June 22-24. The camp will include daily sessions on basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive skills, organized games and skilled competitions. The coaching staff from the Decatur boys basketball team, led by Kevin Olson, will lead the camp for boys and girls in fourth through ninth grade.

The cost is $100 per camper. Make checks payable to Federal Way Public Schools and mail to Kevin Olson at Decatur High School, 2800 SW 320th St., Federal Way, Wash. 98023 or deliver in-person to Decatur. You can register at the door on the first day of the camp.

There will be a 40-minute lunch break and campers are asked to bring a sack lunch each day as campers will not be allowed to leave campus.

• Thomas Jefferson High School will host the 2011 Raider Basketball Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. from June 27-30. The camp will focus on team and individual skills with an emphasis on shooting and ball handling. The coaching staff from TJ, led by head coach Kyle Templeton, will run the camp. Campers will receive a T-shirt and basketball.

The cost is $90 per camper. Make checks payable to Federal Way Public Schools and mail to Kyle Templeton at Jefferson High School, 4248 S. 288th St., Auburn, Wash. 98001 or deliver in-person to TJ. You can register at the door on the first day of the camp.
