I am neither a golfer nor in the Twin Lakes Homeowners Association. I have lived near Brigadoon Elementary for 23 years and found the TLGCC "on accident" when inquiring on wedding plans for my daughter three years ago.

I was not aware of a "social membership" until that time, and for a $300 initiation and $80 a month dues, I now had access to essentially the "amenities agreement" and a very limited number of golf opportunities. The club did an outstanding job on my daughter's wedding for 200 people (at about 50 percent of what it would cost at a hotel/restaurant venue), a bridal shower, another bridal shower for a friend, my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary and now an upcoming baby shower. There is even an adjoining "Garden Room" where you can cater your own event to keep costs down, including adult beverages.

There is something for everybody: Wednesday's $4 steak night, seasonal wine tasting dinners, visiting with Santa at the holiday brunch and New Year's Eve celebrations close to home. I only wish I knew I could have access to this when my kids were little with all of the family events and a swimming pool as well for summertime fun.

Finally, please tell me how Decatur High School Junior Golf, Federal Way Rotary, Federal Way Chamber of Commerce and various club-sponsored charity events don't improve your world as well? I think any homeowner in Twin Lakes would be foolish not to support this gem. Where else can you have so much, so close to home, for so little? TLGCC is an awesome value, and certainly adds to the value of your home as well as my neighborhood just up the hill.
