Republican likes Republican victory | Federal Way letters

I would like to give a great big “thank you” to the voters in Massachusetts. What they did at the election on Tuesday was truly amazing.

Why was it amazing? I have heard all sorts of commentators giving their opinions. All of them have many complicated reasons. Let me give you my very simple opinion.

The voters of Massachusetts saw the handwriting on the wall. They saw that the present situation was more than simply a Democrat vs. Republican issue. That is why they elected a Republican even though the state has three Democrats for every Republican.

So why did so many Democrats vote Republican? Simple. The president they had voted for was not the kind of president they had hoped for.

The voters see that the proposed health care legislation is not about health care. Rather, it is to take control of a big chunk of their freedom.

They see, too, that the proposed cap and trade legislation is not about the environment. Rather, it is to take control of the rest of our freedom.

They see, too, that our present political leadership is taking us to socialism. Believe me, this is a much bigger issue than simply Republican vs. Democrat.

I urge all voters in Washington state to carefully watch how our representatives vote on these issues. Keep that in mind when we get to the next election.
