Same-sex marriage: Let's set the record straight | Federal Way letters, May 15
Now let me get this straight. If I don't believe in same-sex marriage and/or partnerships, I am a bigot and a hater of same-sex partners. Right?
So, Mr. David Palmer is telling me why I should not sign Referendum 71 because it would end up going to the "values voters" (letter to the editor, May 13). Therefore, I would be letting him and others tell me, in essence, you are not an American and I am telling you how you should or should not vote or what referendums to sign or not sign.
Once and for all, I do not hate people who are in a same-sex partnership, mainly because I do have a very close relative who is and has been for over 40 years. I do not believe I am a bigot because I do not believe in same-sex marriages. I believe in the traditional one man and one woman marriage, according to the Washington State Constitution. Therefore, if I am approached, I will sign Referendum 71, against Mr. Palmer's wishes of not signing. He cannot tell me how to live my life, any more than I can tell him how to live his.
What Mr. David Palmer has failed to say is that same-sex partners have many more rights than bisexual partners do. Check it out.
