Martin Moore for city council | Election letters
I am supporting Martin Moore for Federal Way City Council for several reasons:
1. Martin Moore has a proven record of accomplishment in making Federal Way a better place to live. As a Parks and Recreation Commissioner, he has been a prime mover in making our parks accessible to all residents, regardless of disability, and Steel Lake Park’s Funland play structure will soon be fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
2. Martin Moore has shown a commitment to accountable local government that’s answerable to its citizens, not special interests or a wealthy donor class. In previous campaigns, we saw a few affluent donors give thousands and thousands of dollars to their preferred candidate, while at the same time cities including Seattle and Kirkland had already instituted contribution caps of a combined $1,600 from a single individual for a primary and general election cycle. Mr. Moore, concerned that our elected officials might feel more obliged to address the needs of that donor class and not Federal Way’s broader populace, waged a successful campaign that put an end to limitless campaign donations and bring Federal Way in line with other municipalities in the area.
3. Martin Moore is exactly what we want need in elected leadership for the City of Federal Way. Martin grew up in this city, went to its public schools, left to receive his bachelor’s degree, but came back to Federal Way because of his commitment and love for this city. I’ve already given examples of him working as an activist for improving our city, but his day job, as Legislative Assistant for State Rep. Roger Freeman who represents Federal Way, is to assist members of our community – whether it's someone looking for employment or someone looking to start a business or non-profit organization.
Martin Moore has shown he can make positive change in our community already and by electing him as a city councilmember we will give him even greater ability to move this city forward. Please vote for Martin Moore for Federal Way City Council on Nov. 5.
