We support Jeanne Burbidge for council | Election letters

We are strongly supporting Jeanne Burbidge for re-election for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, we believe she deserves it. She has been a hard working council member who is steady, intelligent, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. Her experience and historical perspective on issues is critically important to the future direction of the council and the city. Her integrity is unquestioned, which is one of the most valuable assets an elected official can have.

The breadth and depth of her knowledge of Federal Way and the various issues we confront is exceptional. It is far too valuable to lose. Jeanne listens, researches extensively and makes decisions based on what is good for the community as a whole and what is in the long-term best interest of the city. It may not always be the most popular thing, but doing the right thing sometimes works out that way.

Jeanne Burbidge is recognized for her in-depth knowledge and leadership role on transportation issues regionally, which is one of the critical issues this city faces. It would be to the city's detriment to lose that voice and influence now. Given the complexities of a city of nearly 90,000 residents, it is simply not possible to please all the people all the time.

Jeanne recognizes that, but in a positive and productive way. She is not a polarizing figure and does not pander for political opportunity. She is a solid performer that takes her responsibilities seriously and works hard for citizens who have entrusted her time and time again to represent their best interests. We encourage you to support Jeanne and re-elect her to position 4 on the city council.

Jerry and Carol Vaughn, Federal Way
