Letters to the Editor

Rape and cameras | Letters

The last issue of The Mirror had a column written by Amy Johnson. Her column is titled “Sex in the Suburbs.”

This time she wrote on the subject of rape. I felt compelled to respond. I wrote a letter to the editor and decided to read it again before pushing the “send” button. I then realized that this letter would make half the people in Federal Way mad at me. So I pushed the “delete” button.

Now I picked a different subject. Surveillance cameras. I have long opposed them. I have always felt that these cameras are looking at me every time I leave my house. Well, after seeing the success of these cameras in the Boston marathon bombing, I am beginning to change my mind. I am willing to give up some privacy in exchange for security.

But make no mistake. I am still opposed to cameras being used at traffic intersections.

Leo J. Thoennes, Federal Way
